Military Pay Chart - Welcome

The military pay scale in the US depends on the designation, cost of living, location etc. The ‘Defense Appropriations Act’ and the ‘Defense Authorization Act’ determine the military pay and benefits upon which the military pay scale rests. The major provisions made by the Congress for the military members (in the form of a bill in some cases) are – Basic Pay, Housing Allowance, Combat pay, Family Separation Allowance, Concurrent Receipt, Foreign Language Bonus, Death Gratuity, Education Benefits, Medical Care.
In order to enforce good order and discipline among the military members a separate system of Justice is created for the U.S Armed forces.

There are several military benefits available to the members from medical care, tax advantages, special pays, retirement benefits etc. There are college scholarships and educational benefits as well. The pay scale of military personnel and the education benefits are reasons why some people want to be a part of the military. Although military jobs might lure people to join so as to avail education benefits or college scholarships it is not all that tempting once you undergo the rigorous training.

Introducing a military draft spreads the responsibility of the military service when there is a war of immense magnitude.

With the armed forces currently on active duty in the Gulf area the Military Draft has been in public debate. There have been issues ranging from citizens wanting to bear some responsibility to issues restoring compulsory military service so that the people know the depth and intensity of the challenges faced by the U.S military.

In 2004 the civilian workers for the military were the first in the new military pay scale. They were the first to join the ‘ National Security Personnel System’ created by the Congress in 2003.
